Mountain Valleys RC&D is hosting a Wind Form on November 11th in Asheville on the UNCA Campus at Owen Hall from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and on November 12th at Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.  This forum is being held to as an education outreach to promote an Alternative Energy Program funded by the Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.       Click here for directions to UNCA Owen Hall

Hot Springs Wind Turbine Unveiling

Tobacco Trust Fund Commission Alternative Energy Grant

Mountain Valleys Resource Conservation & Development is undertaking a project to promote alternative energy production on tobacco farms in Madison, Buncombe, Cleveland, Henderson, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford and Transylvania counties. This grant will provide funds to western North Carolina farmers implementing alternative energy on their farms. The grant will match funds up to $10,000 (50 percent cost-share) toward Wind, Solar or Hydro-power projects.


The Process…
• Submit application
• Site viability assessment
• Approval of application
• Certified installation
• Connect electric meter
• Grant payment made
• Project to be maintained and monitored for 5 years

• Install a total of 20 alternative energy systems on farms
• Generate 10,000 kWh of clean energy per year
• Promote economic development and preserve farms
